Overview

Electron beam or e-beam is produced using electron guns, which typically consist of a cathode, an anode, and a series of electrodes that focus and accelerate the electrons. The cathode emits electrons when heated or exposed to light, and the electrons are then accelerated toward the anode using an electric field. As the electrons move towards the anode, they are focused into a narrow stream using lenses or other types of electrodes. The e-beam controller adjusts the strength of the electric field, which controls the speed of the electrons and thus the intensity of the beam. It also adjusts the lenses in the beam column to focus the beam onto the sample or target. In addition to controlling the beam current and focus, the e-beam controller can also adjust other parameters, such as the spot size, dwell time, and scan speed. These adjustments allow the user to control the precision and resolution of the electron beam system, which is critical for many applications, such as semiconductor fabrication and scientific research.
