The upstream cost structure of biodegradable petrochemical-based plastic bags is highly dependent on petrochemical monomers. Taking mainstream PBAT as an example, terephthalic acid, adipic acid, and BDO together account for approximately 70% of the raw material cost, which fluctuates with oil prices. The current total cost of pellets is approximately 13,000 yuan/ton, of which raw material consumption accounts for 9,000 yuan per ton, accounting for ~72%. The remainder is energy consumption, labor, and depreciation. Overall, this cost is still 30%–40% higher than traditional PE.
