Imazethapyr is an organic heterocyclic herbicide, belonging to the imidazolinone compound, also known as pusaite, imidazoethylnicotinic acid, benzathazole, pusaite, and imazethapyr. Its isopropylamine salt is suitable for the control of all weeds. It has excellent herbicidal activity against sedge weeds, annual and perennial monocotyledonous weeds, broad-leaved weeds and miscellaneous woods. It can be used before or after budding, can be quickly absorbed by plant roots and leaves, inhibit the biosynthesis of plant side chain amino acids, destroy proteins, inhibit the growth of weeds, and promote their death. After foliar treatment, sensitive weeds stop growing immediately and generally die after 2 to 4 weeks. Selectivity is due to the different metabolic rates of plants, and the metabolic rate of resistant plants is faster than that of sensitive plants. After leguminous plants absorb imazethapyr, they are quickly metabolized and decomposed in the body, which is safe for soybeans. The half-life of imazethapyr in soybeans is about 1.6 days. Due to its wide spectrum of weed control, high activity, low toxicity and low dosage, imazethapyr currently occupies an important position in the world herbicide market. In my country, imazethapyr is one of the most common herbicides and is widely used, especially in soybean fields in Northeast China. BASF has signed cooperation agreements with many companies on imazethapyr, authorizing the development of new applications for imazethapyr. At the same time, it has launched compound products of imazethapyr with saflufenacil and dimethoate, which has broadened the application range of imazethapyr and promoted the stable sales of imazethapyr. Imazethapyr herbicide has a long residual time in the soil and degrades slowly under alkaline conditions, which can easily cause damage to sensitive crops in the following crops. At present, the imazethapyr market is sluggish, and the research and development of related products has been reduced.
