It also demonstrates good chemical stability, resisting corrosion from acids, alkalis, salts, and organic reagents, and does not react with most molten metals. Due to these superior properties, pyrolytic graphite is widely used in high-end fields such as rocket nozzle throat liners, satellite attitude control antimagnetic spheres, semiconductor epitaxial wafer supports, high-temperature furnace insulation materials, nuclear fuel particle coatings, and artificial heart valves.
The pyrolytic graphite industry chain is a complete system encompassing upstream raw materials and equipment, midstream material manufacturing and processing, and downstream diversified high-end applications. The upstream of the industry chain mainly includes the manufacturing of hydrocarbon gaseous raw materials, inert carrier gases, and specialized equipment such as deposition furnaces. The heating methods for deposition furnaces can be divided into direct heating and indirect heating. The midstream of the industry chain involves the deposition, preparation, subsequent processing, and finishing of pyrolytic graphite. By precisely controlling parameters such as deposition temperature (1750–2250℃) and furnace pressure, high-performance pyrolytic graphite materials are deposited on a graphite matrix and can be further processed into powders, flakes, or components of specific shapes.
