Coaxial HPGe Radiation Detector Market

A coaxial HPGe (High Purity Germanium) radiation detector is a sophisticated device used for detecting and analyzing radiation. It consists of a high-purity germanium crystal in a coaxial cylindrical structure, with an n-type contact on the outer surface and a p-type contact on the surface of an axial well. When radiation enters the sensitive volume of the detector, it interacts with the germanium atoms, generating electron-hole pairs. The electric field across the active region, established by applying a reverse bias voltage, sweeps these charge carriers to the collecting electrodes. A charge-sensitive preamplifier then converts the collected charge into a voltage pulse proportional to the energy deposited by the radiation, enabling the detection and measurement of radiation energy. It has a wide energy detection range, typically from 40 keV to over 10 MeV, high energy resolution, good peak shape and excellent timing resolution.
