In the fuel cell system, hydrogen reacts with the catalyst through the anode to generate electrons and positively charged hydrogen ions. The electrons flow through the external circuit to generate current, while the positively charged hydrogen ions reach the cathode through the membrane, where they combine with oxygen to form water.
