An automotive electrical parking brake, also known as an electronic parking brake (EPB), is a modern automotive braking system that replaces the traditional handbrake or foot-operated parking brake with an electronically controlled mechanism. It is designed to assist the driver in parking and holding the vehicle stationary, especially on inclines or declines. Instead of using mechanical cables or rods to engage the parking brake, the EPB relies on electrical motors or actuators to apply and release the brake.
