A resistor string digital-to-analog converter is a circuit that converts digital signals into analog signals. It realizes digital-to-analog signal conversion by combining a string of resistors and switches. In the resistor string digital-to-analog converter, the digital signal on each binary bit controls the state of a switch, thereby determining whether the resistor on the binary bit participates in the circuit. These resistors are connected in series to form a resistor network whose output voltage depends on the magnitude of the digital signal and the resistance value of the resistors. Ultimately, the voltage output generated by this resistor network is output as an analog signal. Resistor string digital-to-analog converters usually require the use of high-precision resistors, and the switching speed of the switches also affects the accuracy and speed of the converter. Therefore, in practical applications, resistor string digital-to-analog converters are mainly used in low-precision, low-speed applications, such as electronic games, remote controls, and home appliances. Compared with the R-2R type digital-analog converter, the structure of the resistor string digital-analog converter is simpler and the cost is lower. However, its accuracy and speed are relatively low, and as the number of bits increases, the error of the resistor string DAC also increases cumulatively.
