They can help filter out unwanted light and improve the signal-to-noise ratio and performance of optical systems. According to specific application requirements, infrared narrowband filters can have different design parameters, such as central wavelength, bandwidth, transmittance and reflectivity, etc.
Narrowband filter, referred to as NBPF, is a subdivision of bandpass filter. It refers to a type of filter with narrow bandwidth, which only allows light signals of a specific band to pass through. Light signals on both sides that deviate from the specific band cannot pass through. It has various specifications and can achieve any wavelength within 350nm-2000nm. Narrowband filter is generated by all-dielectric hard film coating technology and dielectric interference principle. It has the functions of collecting/separating light signals, isolating interference light, and improving light compressive strength. It has been widely used in electronics, optical communications, photography and printing, detection instruments, biometrics, digital imaging, LED display, 3D sensing and other fields.
Narrowband filter belongs to bandpass filter, which is an optical component that allows light of a specific wavelength to pass through and reflects light of other bands. Because of its narrow bandwidth, it is called narrowband filter. The working area of ​​narrowband filter can be divided into ultraviolet light band, visible light band, near infrared light band, and far infrared light band. Compared with general IRCF, narrowband filters are more difficult to design and manufacture, mainly because the T=50% position at both ends of the spectrum peak needs to be more precisely controlled. At present, narrowband filters are mainly placed in front of CMOS, leaving infrared light for CMOS to sense, to obtain depth of field data, which can better limit the broadband and effectively control the spectrum peak, thereby improving the clarity of the picture.
