Steel fire retardant coating is a special coating designed to improve the fire resistance of steel at high temperatures. It is generally used in building steel structures with a fire resistance limit of less than 2 hours, such as beams, floor slabs and roof load-bearing components in Class I buildings and columns, beams, floor slabs in Class II buildings.
Thin steel structure fire retardant coating is mainly water-soluble and has good decorative and physical and chemical properties.
It can expand and foam when exposed to fire, and the fire-resistant and heat-insulating layer formed by the expansion and foaming delays the temperature rise of the steel and protects the steel components. It is often used in steel structure fire protection projects with a fire resistance limit of less than 2 hours, and the general fire resistance limit is within 2 hours. Spraying is often used for construction, and it is suitable for beams in high-rise civil buildings, columns, beams, floor slabs supporting single layers in general industrial and civil buildings, and steel structure fire protection in roof load-bearing components.
The fire resistance limit of thick steel structure fire retardant coating can reach 0.5~3 hours, or even longer, with the advantage of low cost. The particles of the coating components are large. In the fire, the low thermal conductivity of the granular surface of the material or the heat absorption of the material in the coating is used to delay the temperature rise of the steel and protect the steel. Spraying is often used for construction, and the coating has an uneven appearance, which affects the overall beauty of the building. It is mainly suitable for indoor and outdoor concealed steel structures, high-rise all-steel structures and multi-story factory steel structures with a fire resistance limit of more than 2 hours, such as columns in high-rise civil buildings, columns supporting multiple layers in general industrial and civil buildings, etc.
