The wet process is also known as the thermally induced phase separation method. The wet process adopts the principle of thermally induced phase separation. The plasticizer is mixed with the polyolefin resin. Solid-liquid phase/liquid-liquid phase separation occurs during the cooling of the molten mixture. The membrane is pressed and heated to a temperature close to the melting point. It is then stretched to align the molecular chains. The film is kept warm and a volatile solvent is used to extract the plasticizer from the film to produce a diaphragm. Separator usually refers to a porous membrane material located between the positive and negative electrodes of a battery. Its main function is to prevent the positive and negative electrodes from directly contacting each other and causing a short circuit, while allowing electrolyte ions to pass through to maintain the battery's charge and discharge process.
