1,3-Propanediol (PDO for short), colourless, odorless, hygroscopic, transparent and viscous liquid, is widely used in cosmetics, pharmaceutical intermediates, PTT polyester, coatings, lubricants, inks, and acrylates ,etc. Its most important use is polymerization with terephthalic acid (PTA) to produce polytrimethylene terephthalate (PTT). Compared with petroleum-based 1,3-propanediol, biomanufactured 1,3-propanediol has the advantages of renewable raw material sources, mild reaction conditions, good selectivity, less by-products, and less environmental pollution.
