Upstream includes PAN/pitch/rayon precursor supply, comonomers and solvents, spinning additives, energy utilities, and stabilization equipment makers; midstream covers precursor fiber spinning (wet/dry-jet wet), washing/drawing, then continuous preoxidation (stabilization) lines that deliver preoxidized tow, staple, yarn, or needle-punched/nonwoven felts plus QA, packaging, and logistics; downstream converts the material into flame-resistant textiles, insulation felts, fire-blocking layers, filtration media, and high-temperature gaskets, or further carbonizes it into carbon fiber/carbon felt used in furnaces, aerospace thermal protection, and battery electrodes, sold via industrial distributors and OEM contracts.
Projects under construction and planned commonly include capacity additions of PAN-based precursor and stabilization (preoxidation) lines near carbon-fiber clusters, upgrades to wider/higher-throughput multi-zone stabilization ovens, new needle-punch nonwoven and felt lines aimed at thermal insulation and battery carbon-felt precursors, integration projects that link precursor spinning→preoxidation→carbonization to reduce intermediate logistics, localized build-outs in China and other Asian manufacturing hubs to support PPE/fire-protection and energy-storage demand, and debottlenecking programs such as heat-recovery systems, advanced off-gas treatment, and digital control retrofits to improve yield, uniformity, and energy intensity.
