The glass binds the film to ceramic and stabilizes microstructure; the vehicle provides rheology for screen printing. In practice the resistor film is co-engineered with compatible conductors (Ag, Ag-Pd/Au-based) and overglazes, and processed as air-fired films on alumina or co-/post-fired elements in LTCC, with extensions to AlN/Si₃N₄ for high-thermal applications and steel/IMS for printed heaters. This stack and role split are consistently described across supplier datasheets, LTCC notes and institute literature. Downstream, resistor pastes enable chip resistors & arrays, LTCC embedded/surface resistors for RF biasing/attenuation, hybrid ICs & power modules on oxide/nitride ceramics, printed heaters on ceramics or stainless steel, and thermistors/sensing elements where resistive behavior is functional.
