It features water conservation, reduced wastewater discharge, lower fertilizer and pesticide usage, high yield per unit area, and significant educational and exhibition value. Applications include science education, ecological research, and technology demonstration in schools, research institutions, and eco-museums; commercial production of high-quality agricultural products (bass, mandarin fish, leafy greens, blueberries, etc.); professional commercial farms; and home and community gardening. The upstream of the industry chain includes pumps and valves, filters and bio-fillers, sensors and control systems, greenhouse structures/insulation materials, LEDs and electrical components, and plastic/fiberglass tanks and planting troughs; the midstream consists of system integrators; and the downstream consists of operators. Gross profit margins are approximately 25-45%.
Globally, North America holds a large market share due to strong consumer environmental awareness and high purchasing power, with a high penetration rate of home systems.
