Thiourea is an organic sulfur containing compound with the chemical formula CH4N2S. It has a shiny white crystalline appearance, a bitter taste, and is easily deliquescent in air. It is soluble in cold water, ethanol, and slightly soluble in ether. Thiourea has broad application prospects in fields such as medicine, pesticides, petrochemicals, dyes, rubber, mining, electroplating, etc. It is a widely used fine chemical raw material. There are two main methods for producing thiourea, namely the one-step method, which refers to the method of directly introducing hydrogen sulfide gas into the calcium cyanamide slurry to generate thiourea; The two-step method refers to the method of using sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and sodium sulfide as raw materials to generate barium chloride, barium sulfate, and hydrogen sulfide gas through chemical reactions. The hydrogen sulfide gas is then introduced into the lime slurry to generate thiourea. One step method has the advantages of short process flow, simple technology, and high output rate, and is currently the main method for domestic and foreign enterprises to produce thiourea. Thiourea has a wide range of uses, and in the pharmaceutical field, it can be used in sulfonamide drugs (thiazole), methionine, and other drug production scenarios; In the field of electroplating, it can be used in the production of electroplating additives, playing a role in enhancing the deposition rate, improving the uniformity and glossiness of the coating, and preventing hydrogen embrittlement; In the field of rubber, it can be used in the production scenario of rubber vulcanization accelerators; In the field of pesticides, it can be used in production scenarios such as germination promoters, fungicides (seed dressing), herbicides (acetochlor, tertiazine), and fertilizers; In the field of chemical engineering, it can be used for the synthesis of heterocyclic compounds containing sulfur atoms or thiol groups.
