Standard Ferro Niobium is a niobium-containing iron alloy, mainly used in the steel industry as an alloy additive to improve the strength, corrosion resistance and high temperature performance of steel. It is usually synthesized from niobium ore after smelting and purification, and iron in a specific ratio, with a niobium content of 60-70%. Standard Ferro Niobium is widely used in high-strength low-alloy steel, stainless steel, heat-resistant steel and other fields, especially in the automotive, aerospace and infrastructure construction industries, to improve the mechanical properties and service life of the material.
From a regional perspective, the Chinese market has become the core engine of global niobium consumption, with sales accounting for more than 35% of the world in 2024, and revenue share is expected to further increase to 40% in 2031. This trend is closely related to China's continued promotion of infrastructure investment, high-end equipment manufacturing and new energy vehicle industries. The demand of traditional industrial powers such as North America, Europe, Japan and South Korea relies on the application of high-end alloy materials. It is worth noting that emerging economies such as India may become an important supplement to the future growth of niobium demand under the background of accelerated industrialization.
From the perspective of application areas, structural steel currently occupies a dominant position (47.53% in 2024), but its share is expected to drop to 43.28% by 2031, while the share of automotive steel will increase from 25.70% to 27.86%.
