There are two recognized types of high temperature superconducting wires: BSCCO, known as the first generation (1G) wire, and ReBCO, known as the second generation (2G) wire. ReBCO stands for "rare earth - bismuth - copper oxide" of superconducting compounds. BSCCO stands for "铋 - 锶 - Calcium - Copper - Oxygen". Each of these processes has been refined for more than 20 years, and each type of coated conductor has a compromise. Each type of drive element is the operating temperature. Most importantly, HTS device manufacturers can achieve 10 times the power output increase by significantly reducing the overall system operating temperature.
