The working principle of infrared receiving diodes is based on the photoelectric effect. When infrared rays illuminate the PN junction area of ??the diode, the photon energy will excite electrons to jump from the valence band to the conduction band, generating current. This current signal can be processed by the receiving circuit to detect and decode the infrared signal.
