Therefore, the production technology and infrastructure already exist. Typically, ammonia is produced via the Haber-Bosch process, in which hydrogen gas reacts catalytically with nitrogen from the air. If hydrogen is produced from renewable energy, it is truly carbon neutral because there is no carbon involved. Ammonia could therefore be used as zero-emission energy storage in future zero-emission energy systems. Ammonia cracking is a less mature technology that is not yet widely available. In order for ammonia to be used as an economical energy store for hydrogen, a stable and robust product needs to be available. Ammonia cracking catalyst is an important product essential for ammonia hydrogen storage.
