Automotive Braking Energy Recovery System, also known as brake energy recovery system, is a technology that converts mechanical energy into electrical energy during vehicle braking. This system typically consists of a set of electric motor brakes and a generator that work together to convert the vehicle's mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Brake energy recovery systems work by activating the electric motor brakes to slow or stop the vehicle when the driver presses the brake pedal. At the same time, the generator also starts, converting the mechanical energy during braking into electrical energy and storing it in an energy storage device (such as a battery or supercapacitor). This process can reduce the vehicle's fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions while increasing its driving range.

According to data from the World Automobile Organization (OICA), global automobile production and sales in 2017 reached their peak in the past 10 years, at 97.3 million and 95.89 million respectively.
