Iron-chromium battery is a kind of secondary battery. Its working principle is to convert iron and chromium between different oxidation states to achieve the storage and release of electrical energy. In the charged state, the anode of the iron-chromium battery is chromate and the cathode is iron hydroxide, and the two are separated by an ion exchange membrane. In the discharge state, chromate is reduced to trivalent chromium ions, and ferric hydroxide is oxidized to ferric ions, which move to the anode and cathode through the ion exchange membrane to generate electrical energy.
